Project Description

The IFC is considering an US$11 million corporate finance package to Djeliba Leisure Group (DLG), a group comprised of four Gambian companies acting as co-borrowers - Djeliba Leisure Group Ltd, Balafon Company Ltd, EON Company Ltd, and International Tourism Investment Ltd – to support hotel expansion, refurbishment, and energy efficiency improvements. The financing comprises an IFC A-Loan and subordinated loans from International Development Association Private Sector Window Blended Finance Facility (IDA PSW BFF) and the Concessional Capital Window (CCW). Proceeds will support a US$20.76 million investment program across four beachfront hotels in The Gambia: Balafon Beach Resort; Kombo Beach Resort; TUI BLUE Tamala hotel; and Kalimba Beach Resort. Djeliba Leisure Group Ltd.

Use of financing proceeds will cover construction of new rooms and room refurbishment across the four hotels; upgrades to employee welfare facilities; and installation of a 1.8MW solar photovoltaic (PV) system with battery energy storage to supply solar power exclusively for on-site hotel operations at three hotels.

All four hotels are expected to receive EDGE certification.
