This is a Category B project according to IFC’s Environment and Social Sustainability Policy, as the project is expected to have limited adverse E&S impacts that are few, generally site-specific, largely reversible, and readily addressed through mitigation measures. Key E&S risks and issues are (i) adequacy of the companies’ E&S systems and organizational capacity to assess and manage E&S risks and impacts in line with IFC PS requirements, including management of activities associated with the construction and modernization of the factories and sourcing of raw materials; (ii) gender-based violence and harassment (GBVH), non-discrimination, equal opportunity, workers grievance mechanism; (iii) construction and operation OHS risks; (iv) supply chain management; (v) resource efficiency and pollution prevention measures; (vi) emergency preparedness and response and community health and safety; and (vii) stakeholder’ engagement and external grievance mechanism including GBVH sensitive grievances.
