Bradesco’s major shareholders are: Cidade de Deus Cia. de Participacoes Comerciais (44.6% of common shares), Fundacao Bradesco (16.4%). The balance of Bradesco’s common shares is held over 2 million shareholders, including Deutsche Bank, Sanwa Bank, and Bradesco employees.

Project Cost Including proposed IFC investment

A US$100 million syndicated credit line, including: an A loan of up to US$40 million for the account of IFC, and a B loan of up to US$60 million for the account of participating banks.

Description of Company and Purpose of Project

The project consists of a credit line which will provide critical US dollar medium-term financing for the expansion, modernization, and financial restructuring of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) primarily located in the North and Northeast region of Brazil. Banco Bradesco’s vast branch network and strong balance sheet will provide the vehicle for getting a critical mass of resources to SMEs in a reliable way.

Environmental Category and Issues

This is a Financial Intermediary (FI) project according to IFC’s environmental review procedure. Bradesco will be required to undertake environmental reviews of sub-projects. IFC will assess Bradesco’s capability to carry out environmental reviews.
