Project Description
The NSL Group was founded in 1973 as a seeds company -- Nuziveedu Seeds Limited (NSL), which has since become the largest in India. Through NRPPL, NSL has diversified into renewable energy business with particular focus on wind and hydroelectric power (hydro) in India. NRPPL is a holding company which has a pipeline of medium & small hydro and wind power projects under development. Typically, each project is developed under a special purpose company with NRPPL as the majority shareholder. IFC is considering an equity investment to support NRPPL’s expansion plans.
NRPPL has about 110 MW of existing operating assets comprised of two 6 MW each biomass power plants and 2 wind power plants, the 50.4 MW wind power plant in Bhimasamudra and 47.5 MW wind power project in Jagalur, Anthiyur & Kappatgudda, both in Karnataka. The Company has under development, 2 medium scale (100 MW and 44 MW) and 2 small scale (5 MW and 6 MW) hydro projects of which Tidong 1, a 100 MW hydro project is in the most advanced of construction. Further, the Company is also planning to develop 7 wind power projects, which are in various stages of conceptualization and development.
