Project Description
Established as a multiple bank in 1987, Banco Fibra S.A. (“Fibra” or the “Bank”) is one of the leading mid-sized Brazilian banks operating in the middle market segment. As of December 2009, Fibra posted total assets of R$11.8 billion and credit portfolio of R$5.5 billion, with net income of R$101.7 million. In March 2010, the Bank’s total assets reached R$8.5 billion, with credit portfolio of R$6.4 billion and net income totaled R$29.0 million in the first quarter of the year.
The project involves the provision by IFC of a local currency indexed A Loan for an amount of up to $15 million. The project also includes a B Loan, for an amount of up to $75 million. The proceeds from the A and B Loan will be used by the Bank to expand its lending activities involving SME companies.
