Project Description

The Project will consist of an A and B loan to OJSC “Credit Bank of Moscow” (“CBM”, or the “Bank”), a mid-size universal Moscow-based bank, in the total amount of up to $150 million. CBM has been a client of IFC since 2004. Currently the Bank operates only in Moscow and Moscow Region with a sound network of 41 branches, 240 ATMs and 820 payment terminals, but subject to favorable economic conditions, plans to expand its branch network to the regions. The Project is aimed at supporting a long-standing partner as part of IFC’s counter-cyclical strategy, and contribution to opening of syndicated loan market in Russia. In addition to that, the proposed project will have an energy efficiency component, which will help the Bank introduce and develop this new strategically important loan product, and an agribusiness related component, which is in line with the IFC food crisis response strategy to scale up wholesaling as means to provide liquidity to SMEs through the entire agribusiness value chain. IFC’s involvement in the project will catalyze credit lines to regional food supply chain players providing for sustainable crop production in a major agricultural producing country such as Russia
