The project sponsor is Alexander Kuminsky, the founder and sole owner of the Company.

The total project cost is estimated at approximately $100 million. The proposed IFC investment is a mixture of debt and quasi-equity for a total of up to $25 million for IFC’s own account.

The project is located in and near the town of Globino, which is in the Poltava region of Ukraine. The region is predominantly rural, and centrally located in Ukraine. The project will be both on existing and greenfield sites.

The project is expected to have the following development impacts: i) increased employment of approximately 600 new employees; ii) increased purchases of raw materials from local small and medium enterprises; and iii) benefit to consumers from lower prices and a higher standard of food safety.

IFC will (i) provide counter-cyclical long-term financing to ensure the Companyâ??s further growth, (ii) support the Company in improving financial reporting and corporate governance, (iii) assist the Company improve their food safety procedures and obtain appropriate certifications; and (iv) identify measures to improve energy efficiencies. IFCâ?™s support of Globino will also provide comfort to other long-term lenders which are also supporting the project

This is a category B project according to IFC’s environmental and social review procedures. The Project’s limited environmental and social adverse impacts can be avoided or mitigated by adhering to national laws and regulations, generally recognized performance standards and guidelines. Key environment, health and safety and social impacts/issues of the project include:

- Environmental and social impact assessment of new and upgraded facilities;
- Environmental, health and safety management systems;
- Food safety, implementation of Good Manufacturing Processes, and microbiological contamination (e.g. hand washing steps, separation of dirty from clean areas, storage of food products on the floor, etc.);
- Animal welfare and biosecurity;
- Land acquisition and expansion planning procedures;
- Labor and working conditions, including occupational health and safety;
- Energy and water consumption;
- Greenhouse gas emissions;
- Wastewater and waste management, including hazardous waste.
