Project Description
The project entails a Risk Sharing Facility of up to EUR47.5 million (in local currency equivalent) with Ceska Sporitelna (“Ceska” or the “Bank”) to support increasing exposure to renewable energy (“RE”) sector.
As the former Czech state savings bank, Ceska Sporitelna has a large retail base and provides a growing range of financial services primarily focusing on small and medium-sized companies, municipalities, towns and large corporations.
IFC has had a long-standing commitment and experience in promoting energy efficiency investment in the region. This Facility builds upon the ITF’s Commercializing Energy Efficiency Program (“CEEF”) launched in 2003. CEEF has since provided technical assistance and subsidized risk sharing for local banks using financial products and technical advisory to increase funding to renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
