7LCP is an independent private equity firm. Working together from 1995 to 2002, the principals of 7LCP have been involved in originating and managing direct investments in over 50 companies, making investment commitments of over €240 million in aggregate through two predecessor funds, the Commercial Capital Group (“CCG”), the private equity arm of the Commercial Bank of Greece (“CBG”), and Baring Communications Equity Emerging Europe (“BCEEE”). The key CCG principals left CCG in 2002-2003 to establish 7LCP jointly with a key principal of BCEEE. CCG operated from Russia to Cyprus and from Central Europe to Turkey while BCEEE was the first private equity fund in that region focused solely on the communication sector.

It is proposed that IFC invest up to €20 million, up to 20% of total commitments to the Fund.

The Fund will be formed as a Guernsey limited liability partnership. 7LCP formed as a Guernsey limited liability company and will have local teams in Athens,Greece, and in each of the target markets of the Region.

The Fund is expected to have several important development impacts by: - Providing scarce equity financing for the development of the Region’s companies. - Supporting transactions which promote greater integration of companies in the Region. - Partnering with local management teams and assisting them in adopting international management practices and standards and supporting them in critical areas such as strategy development through a hands-on investment approach. IFC’s Role - Catalytic Role: IFC participation will help the Fund reach a critical size and increase 7LCP’s chances of raising capital from international sources which have been reluctant to invest in the Region. - Support of Experienced Fund Manager: The private equity market in the Region remains limited. IFC would be supporting one of the few established, independent firms, with a demonstrated hands-on approach working with local companies to help grow their businesses. - Fund Structuring and Key Terms: IFC will work closely with 7LCP to ensure the Fund’s structure and terms are in line with IFC and international standards, thereby ensuring adequate investor protection. - Governance of the Fund: IFC will seek to play a governance role through participation on the Fund’s governing structures.

This is an FI type project. The Fund Manager will be required to establish an environmental management system to ensure that its investee companies are in compliance with host country environmental and social requirements, and any applicable environmental, health and safety requirements of IFC. IFC will assess 7LCP''s capacity to conduct environmental and social reviews.
