Project Description
The proposed project consists of the construction and operation of a grain river port terminal at Timbues (Timbues Port), located about 340 km from Buenos Aires on the lower Parana River in Santa Fe province. The project will be constructed and operated by Noble Argentina S.A. (Noble Argentina or the company). Established in 2001, Noble Argentina is a commodity trader that offers a range of highly diversified agricultural commodity products, as well as logistics and technical services. The project includes:
- the acquisition of 201 hectares of land with 1,800 m of waterfront;
- the construction of a truck parking area and facilities for sampling, conditioning and storage; and
- the purchase of equipment.
Timbues Port will have a storage capacity of 120,000 tons and will be able to accommodate a throughput of about 2.5 million tons of grain per year, consisting mainly of exports of wheat, corn and soybeans. Construction began at the end of February 2005 and the project is expected to be completed by July 2006.
