RBSec’s current shareholders are various investment funds and vehicles associated with the Rio Bravo Group (who hold 82% of the company’s shareholders’ equity), as well as other high net-worth individual investors.

IFC’s proposed investment in the company is up to $2.0 million-equivalent, and will not exceed 20% of the company’s shareholders’ equity.

This is an environmental category C project. RBSec will be required to establish an appropriate screening procedure to ensure that properties associated with securitized real estate receivables are not environmentally impaired.
Location of environmental documents in locally affected community

- Extension of financial services to a large number of previously underserved groups. By providing alternative – and therefore increased – sources of residential real estate financing in addition to those that already exist, the project will help to address Brazil’s current housing deficit and make the purchase of homes more affordable for middle-income families. - Significant contribution towards improving the legal and regulatory environment for housing finance in Brazil. IFC’s involvement in this project will allow the Corporation to play an active role in helping to remedy any remaining legal and regulatory deficiencies in the Brazilian primary and secondary mortgage sectors, as well as the country’s growing securitization markets. In addition to necessary review of relevant legal and regulatory underpinnings for these markets, IFC’s participation in this project is expected to result in further standardization of eligibility, underwriting and servicing criteria for mortgage loans, all of which are important preconditions for the development and viability of a large and liquid MBS market.
