In June 2000, Austindo Nusantara Jaya (ANJ), Olympus Capital Holdings Asia managing and JP Morgan Partners Asia managing committed $100 million equity capital and created Verdaine Investment Limited (Verdaine, the company), a dedicated vehicle incorporated in Mauritius, to acquire and manage oil palm plantations in Indonesia. Stakes of the partners are around 31.4%, 35% and 33.6%, respectively. The company’s primary acquisition targets are cash flow positive plantations in Indonesia with growth potential derived primarily from the rehabilitation of ill-maintained areas. Verdaine plans to acquire, rehabilitate and manage 40,000 to 50,000 hectares of palm oil plantation.
