Project Description
Prodem is a well managed fondo financiero privado (FFP), the legal vehicle under which microfinance entities are regulated as NBFIs in Bolivia. Prodem is dedicated to micro-lending to small entrepreneurs and indigenous populations and has developed rural finance activities as well. The proposed project will allow Prodem to increase the outreach of its lending operations. The developmental impact of Prodem is expected to be far reaching in terms of economic support for productive micro businesses, stimulus for growth and employment generation, and confidence building for the microfinance sector. In addition, the bond issue would have a significant developmental impact in educating institutional investors as to the unique role of micro-financiers and on diversifying their holdings into this segment of the financial markets.
