Project Description

The project companies are OAO Bauxite Timana, an existing company, and ZAO Komi Aluminium a greenfield company, established to operate the planned integrated bauxite/alumina/aluminium project in the Komi Republic of Russia. OAO Bauxite Timana was established to run the Middle Timan Bauxite Mine in the Komi Republic, to which it holds the license. The project entails the expansion of the mine from the existing 1million tonnes of bauxite per annum to produce up to 6 million tones per annum and to start early works on the construction of an associated alumina refinery. This is the initial phase of the larger integrated project that includes the bauxite mine, an alumina refinery and an aluminium smelter and which will be one of the largest new investment projects in Russia.
