Project Description
The project is to incorporate Hagar Soya as a private company and expand it by establishing a soy milk manufacturing plant employing new processing and packaging technology. The new plant will expand the current production capacity from 1,200 liters per day to 12,000 liters per day and will produce soy milk in 150 milliliter Combibloc paper carton drink boxes.
The project will have a significant development impact in Cambodia. In ACLEDA (project #9675), IFC successfully converted an NGO into a commercial bank, which IFC supported extensively through advisory work, investments, and by arraging financing. In the proposed project, IFC will seek to demonstrate the feasibility of converting NGOs'' income generating activities into private companies operating on a commercial basis. The project will ensure the company long-term sustainability and also support Hagar''s social activities by creating jobs and re-investing the dividends received by Hagar NGO from the company.
