Project Description

IFC proposes a US$250 million investment in a risk-sharing facility with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (“SMBC” or “the Bank”). The total facility size is US$500 million. It will cover a portfolio of supply chain finance assets under IFC’s Global Supply Chain Finance Program.

The facility will initially focus on the food sector in Latin America. The project provides a countercyclical response to market volatility, as well as liquidity to build resilience in the food value chain. This aligns directly with broader World Bank Group objectives.
