Project Description

The proposed project consists of a multi-country unfunded Risk Sharing Facilities (‘RSF’) totaling up to XOF17.0 billion in IFC’s Maximum Risk Amount in local currency equivalent, providing a 50% coverage of a portfolio of up to XOF34.0 billion including short term working capital loans to MSMEs to be originated by Orange Bank Africa Côte d’Ivoire (‘OBA CI’ or ‘the Bank’) via its existing ‘Tik Tak’ digital credit and savings application. In addition, subject to further approvals, the project is expected to be supported by the IDA20 Private Sector Window’s Blended Finance Facility (“IDA PSW-BFF”) to de-risk the investment.

The RSF will continue to support the development of OBA CI’s digital lending activities to Micro, Small and Medium Entreprises (MSMEs) in Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal, 2 countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) region with a gender carve out aiming to support Women Micro, Small and Medium Entreprises (WMSMEs).

The Project would be processed under IFC’s Small Loans Guarantee Program (“SLGP”), a programmatic approach to de-risk and scale-up financing for SMEs in eligible countries, such as Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal.
