Project Description

Founded in 1995 in Cordoba, Argentina, Fundacion Universidad Empresarial Siglo 21 (“Siglo 21” or the “University”) is the country’s largest private university by enrollment and a pioneer in distance and blended learning. Established as a nonprofit institution, the University was created to expand access to higher education and align academic offerings with labor market needs.

The project involves the construction of two new EDGE Advanced-certified campuses in Cordoba, Argentina for a total cost of US$40m, adding 20,000 seats (the “Project”). The Project will support the expansion of blended learning programs and respond to labor‑market demand. It will be financed with a combination of a senior secured A loan provided by IFC and Siglo 21’s available cash.

Associated Advisory Engagement

IFC is supporting Siglo 21 via an industry-led education program for the mining sector. The project focuses on four key areas: (i) mining labor market and job analysis, (ii) global benchmarking of best practices; (iii) strategic positioning and go-to-market strategy; and (iv) industry engagement and curriculum co-creation. The Advisory project is filed under the Industry-Led Education umbrella (Project No. 609651).
