Interoc S.A. and its subsidiaries (Interoc or the Group) is a mid-sized multinational agribusiness group of Ecuadorian origin with over 30 years of experience specializing in high-yield maize and rice seeds and crop protection solutions. The Group operates with a vertically integrated model and a strong focus on research and development, enabling it to deliver differentiated products and technical assistance to farmers and distributors. Interoc has a regional presence across Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, and Central America. The proposed project will finance the development of a rice seeds germplasm program allowing the Group to distribute the first hybrid rice seed variety in the Andean Region, with higher yields and improved resilience to climate variability, while also strengthening the Group’s capacity for the production and distribution of hybrid maize seeds.

Interoc has expressed interest in receiving IFC advisory services focused on climate and energy efficiency. This would be delivered with support from the LAC Region Landscapes Advisory Project, which aims to support agribusiness clients in Latin America to adopt regenerative agriculture practices that increase supply chain resilience, decrease GHG emissions intensity, and ensure the long-term viability of global food and fiber production systems. The engagement is expected to focus on (i) assessing options for a reliable, lower-carbon electricity supply, and (ii) undertaking a technical and economic feasibility study to explore options for converting residues into renewable energy or bio-based products.
