Project Outcomes: Economy-wide effects: The Project will support the continued growth of the automotive industry in Türkiye by (i) increasing demand for EVs; (ii) increasing demand for goods and services provided by local suppliers; and (iii) creating more skilled new employment opportunities. Environmental effects: The Project will contribute to increasing energy efficiency and GHG emission reduction by supporting the dissemination of EVs in the Turkish automotive market. Market Creation: Competitiveness: IFC anticipates the Project to enhance the competitiveness of the automotive retail industry through demonstration and replication channels. The Project will enable the Company to increase its EV sales at scale, which will support the distribution of a more efficient and environmentally sustainable product in the market. As the Company is the third largest automotive retailer in Türkiye, the Project should serve as a catalyst for other firms to also enter and expand its EV operations to remain competitive. Sustainability: IFC anticipates the Project to contribute to greater environmental sustainability in the automotive retail market through demonstration and replication channels. The Project is expected to catalyze the adoption of resource efficient solutions among other automotive suppliers in Türkiye.

Financial additionality Financing structure: IFC will provide financing on terms not readily available in the local market, including a 6-year tenor. The terms of the proposed financing will better match the cashflows of the Company's business, improve its debt profile, and enhance its access to complementary capital thereby reducing its vulnerability to domestic financial and banking shocks. IFC's financing will also help diversifying the Company's capital structure, which currently has low debt levels, mainly provided by local financial institutions. Non-financial additionality Standard Setting: The Project will help the Company enhance its E&S management system in line with international best practices. IFC's E&S specialist will provide guidance on IFC Performance Standards.

This is a Category B project according to IFC’s Environment and Social Sustainability Policy (2012), as the project is expected to have potential limited adverse E&S risks and/or impacts that are few in number, generally site-specific, largely reversible, and readily addressed through mitigation measures. Key E&S risks and issues include (i) the company's systems and organizational capacity to assess and manage E&S risks and impacts, in line with IFC PS requirements ; (ii) consistent management of labor and working conditions and occupational health and safety (OHS); (iii) supply chain management; (iv) resource efficiency and pollution prevention measures; (v) emergency preparedness and response plan (EPRP), including life and fire safety (L&FS); and (vi) stakeholder engagement and external grievance mechanism.
