Project Description

 JSC National Company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ or the Company), a wholly owned subsidiary of the JSC Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna (SK), is a fully integrated holding company that owns and operates the railway infrastructure and manages the provision of both freight and passenger transportation services in Kazakhstan.

The total proposed investment is US$304 million loan package (denominated in CHF) with a maturity of 10 years. This package comprises (i) up to US$50 million IFC A loan, and (ii) the mobilization of up to US$254 million from other lenders.

The proceeds will be used to finance the construction of the Almaty Railway Bypass – a 130 km electrified railway line designed to bypass the logistics bottleneck along the Middle Corridor around Almaty (the Project).
