Eneris is a private company, currently indirectly and wholly owned by Mr. Artur Dela, a Polish-born entrepreneur who first entered Poland’s waste management sector in 2015 through acquisition of Veolia Uslugi dla srodowiska and significantly expanded it by developing new product lines in waste management, thereby strengthening its position among the sector’s leaders in Poland.

IFC seeks to provide an up to EUR 80 million financing to Eneris Alpha S.A. The IFC's proposed investment will be used to finance greenfield circular economy projects and strategic acquisitions in the waste management sector in Poland, including municipal and industrial waste collection, sorting and recycling, battery recycling, hazardous waste management, biogas plants, as well as strengthening of the Company's capital structure.

The Borrower is headquartered in Luxembourg, while its Polish operating subsidiaries conduct business within Poland.

This is a Category A project as per IFC's Policy on Environmental and Social Sustainability. In addition to the several operational waste management facilities, including an HW incineration plant, the project will also include the development of greenfield facilities, including another HW incineration facility supporting an HW landfill project, which is still at the concept stage. An environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) will be undertaken when the concept is developed, and the design is more advanced. The HW landfill is planned to be located on a former sulphur mine, which will need to undergo an environmental assessment to identify and delineate potential historical contamination. While the majority of its existing and planned plants and facilities are in industrial or rural/suburban areas, with no sensitive receptors in the immediate vicinity, the location of the planned biogas plant is in proximity to an existing biogas plant and within the boundaries of a designated Natura 2000 site and is discussed under PS6 section below.
