The Company was founded by Mr. Sheun Ming Ling in 1973. Fitesa continues to be fully owned by the Ling family. The Company has independent management.

IFC is proposing an A Loan of up to US$60 million to support Fitesa’s capital expenditure and related working capital at its three major plants in Brazil, aimed at increasing capacity of innovative nonwoven materials.

Investments will be made at Fitesa’s facilities located in São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul states, Brazil.

 This is a Category B project according to IFC’s Policy on Environmental and Social Sustainability (2012). Based on information reviewed by IFC, the proposed project will have limited adverse E&S impacts that are few, site specific, largely reversible and readily addressed through existing mitigation measures and good international industry practices (GIIP). 

Key E&S issues associated with the project include: i) adequacy of the corporate E&S management system and organizational capacity to assess and manage risks and impacts associated with company’s operations and expansions funded under the Project; ii) management of labor and occupational health and safety including gender based violence and sexual harassment (GBV&SH), and contractor management; iii) pollution prevention and control, including management of hazardous materials and waste management; iv) stakeholder engagement and grievance mechanism; and v) community health safety related to transport of manufactured materials and security.
