InVivo Group is a leading agribusiness player in Europe. It is owned by Union InVivo, a national union of French cooperatives.

IFC will provide a total financing package of €200 million, to be financed by IFC’s net A Loan of around €150 million and the remaining will be a combination of a trust loan, with IFC acting in its capacity as the implementing entity for the Managed Co-Lending Portfolio Program (MCPP), or credit insurance.

Investments under the Project are planned to be made in South Africa, Bulgaria, Romania, and Poland.

 Not applicable as the Project is not in the extractives sector.

  This is a Category B project according to IFC’s 2012 Policy on Environmental and Social Sustainability due to limited and site-specific E&S risks and impacts associated with the construction of the malting plants. These can be avoided or mitigated by adhering to recognized Good International Industry Practices (GIIPs). The sourcing of barley in Bulgaria, Poland, Romania and South Africa is considered of low risk as being in consolidated agricultural areas. Key E&S risks and issues for this investment are: (i) implementation effectiveness of the company E&S management System (ESMS) at corporate and targeted assets, including E&S policies, risk assessment studies, management plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during construction and operational phase, organizational capacity/competency of the EHS malting division in Bulgaria and South Africa; (ii) fair treatment and safe working conditions for employees and contractors, including implementation of HR policies and procedures aligned with PS2 requirements; (iii) emergency preparedness and response; (iv) resource efficiency and GHG emissions; management of air emissions, noise, solid/hazardous waste, and effluent; (v) community safety, traffic and use of security forces; (vi) effectiveness of stakeholder engagement, including community grievance mechanism.
