The Project involves the design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of a seawater desalination and conveyance system from Aqaba to Amman (including renewable power generation facilities) in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It comprises of (i) a marine intake and outfall system and large-scale desalination plant located in Aqaba, (ii) a 438-km conveyance pipeline delivering desalinated water from the desalination plant in Aqaba to the cities of Aqaba and Amman, and (iii) a c.280 MW solar PV plant to cover part of its energy needs. The AAWDCP will be developed under a Public-Private Partnership on a Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Maintain-Transfer (“DBFOMT”) basis pursuant to a 30-year concession agreement between the Government of Jordan and the private project company. Upon completion of the concession term, the Project assets will be transferred to the Government.
