The Co-Borrowers are fully owned by Grupo Farinter International S.R.L. The Farinter group headquarters are in Honduras, and the parent company is majority owned by the Faraj family.    

 IFC’s investment consists of an A Loan on IFC’s own account which will finance the acquisition of companies in the pharmaceutical sector in Central America and the construction of two new distribution centers in Honduras and Nicaragua.                                                  

  The Project is located in Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. Farinter is headquartered in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and has presence in Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Panama.                                                 

This is a category B project according to IFC’s Policy on Environmental and Social Sustainability as the project is expected to have limited number of specific environmental and social impacts which are manageable with implementation of good international industry practices (GIIP), standards, procedures, guidelines and design criteria. Key E&S issues and risks associated with the project include: (i) company’s resources and capacity to implement an environment, health, safety, and social management system (ESMS), in line with IFC PS requirements at existing operations, DCs that will be constructed,  and the targeted company, (ii) labor conditions and workers’ grievance management, (iii) occupational health and safety (OHS) management, including construction contractors’ management (iv) gender-based violence and harassment (GBVH) and road safety, (v) waste management, including Greenhouse Gas (GHGs) emissions, and (vi) stakeholder engagement and external grievance management.
