Project Description

The proposed investment consists of an IFC partial credit guarantee of up to XAF 2.87 billion (US$5 million equivalent), to cover 100 percent of principal only of an XAF-denominated senior loan from Banque Internationale du Cameroun pour l'Epargne et le Credit (BICEC) to ACEP Cameroun SA (ACEP or the Company), the third largest microfinance institution (MFI) in Cameroon, to scale up MSME lending in the country (the Project). BICEC is the local subsidiary of the Moroccan banking group, Banque Centrale Populaire S.A. (BCP). At least 25 percent of the loan proceeds will be earmarked for women-owned or women-led micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (WMSMEs).

In addition, the project is supported by the IDA21 IFC-MIGA Private Sector Window’s Blended Finance Facility (“IDA PSW-BFF”) to de-risk the investment.
