Sanko Holding is the main shareholder of Sanko Tekstil, Super Film and Cimko. The holding is ultimately owned by the Konukoglu Family.

The Project cost is expected to be up to US$245 million, which will be primarily funded by the IFC Financing at an amount of up to US$150 million consisting of: (i) up to US$100 million or its EUR equivalent A Loan on own account and (ii) up to US$50 million or its EUR equivalent syndicated loans. The remaining balance is to come from the internal cash generation by the Project Companies and/or additional debt from Sanko Holding’s relationship banks.

The Project will be implemented in three cities of Turkiye, two of which were hit hard by the two earthquakes in February 2023. Sanko Tekstil’s and Cimko’s investments will be in the epicenters of the earthquakes, Gaziantep and Kahramanmaras, respectively, while Super Film’s investments will be in Kirklareli in the Marmara Region of Turkiye.

This is a Category B project according to IFC’s Policy on Environmental and Social Sustainability (2012). The E&S risks and impacts associated with this project are limited, site-specific, largely reversible, and can be readily addressed through generally accepted mitigation measures and good international industry practices (GIIP). Key E&S issues and risks reviewed as part of IFC’s appraisal include: (i) company’s monitoring and management systems to assess and manage E&S risks and issues from its operation and those related to construction of new production facilities, solar power plants and supply chain management of alternative waste fuels and cotton; (ii) assurance of fair, safe and healthy working conditions including gender based  aspects, freedom of association and occupational health and safety; (iii) emergency preparedness and response; (iv) resource efficiency measures; (v) monitoring and management of air emissions, waste and wastewater and hazardous materials; and (vi) company’s stakeholder engagement activities related to E&S aspects.
