Gas - Thermal Power Generation
Public-Private Partnerships
The Project involves the development, design, construction and operation of a 1,600MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (“CCGT”) power project located approximately 150 km south of the capital city of Tashkent in the Syrdarya region in Uzbekistan. The Project will be an Independent Power Producer (“IPP”), implemented on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer basis, selling its generation to the state-owned JSC National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan (“NEGU”), under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement. Gas for the Project will be procured from the state owned JSC Uztransgaz under a tolling-mechanism.
The Government of Uzbekistan (“GoU”), advised by IFC CTA, conducted an international competitive tender for the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a 1,200-1,600 MW greenfield CCGT power plant issuing an RfP on December 15th 2020. The tender was awarded to the winning consortium of Électricité de France SA (“EDF”), Nebras Power (“Nebras”) and Sojitz Corporation (“Sojitz”) on November 19th 2021.
