Project Description

The Compagnie Ivoirienne pour le Dévelopement des Textiles (CIDT, the Company) is a cotton ginning company in Cote d’Ivoire (CDI) which is headquartered in Bouaké, the second largest city of the country.  The company transforms raw cotton (seed cotton) into cotton lint/fiber which is mainly exported. The seed cotton is acquired from more than 30,000 smallholder farmers active in his exclusive area. IFC’s financing will be used to support CIDT’s expansion plan in CDI (the “Project) for: (i) Building a new 40,000 mtpa ginning plant in Tieningboué to increase the Company’s ginning capacity:; (ii) Upgrading its running plants in Bouaké, Mankono and Séguela; (iii) financing transport equipment which will improve the company’s operations and reduce reliance on third party.

Associated Advisory Engagement

IFC and the Company will explore further advisory services support and collaboration opportunities around their smallholder sourcing and help address challenges of the industry (like climate change, professionalization of the cooperatives, use of Ag-tech, etc.)
