TL was founded in 2017 by Anayet Rashid (CEO) and Mir Ekram (COO). Mr. Rashid has deep experience in operating manufacturing companies through his family business. Mr. Ekram has more than ten years of experience and founded Joy Network, an internet service provider in Bangladesh.

Mr. Rashid is a majority shareholder of the Company. Other shareholders who hold more than 5 percent shareholding in the Company include Mr. Ravid Chowdhury (CFO) and APH Finance, a reputed seed stage investor. No other shareholder in the Company owns more than 5 percent in the Company.

 The Company is in the process of raising Series A financing of US$5 million. IFC is proposing an equity investment into TL of up to US$3 million. The funding will support the expansion of the Company in the domestic market along with the introduction of ancillary services for partners.

 Truck Lagbe Inc. has its registered office in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It currently provides long-haul and short-haul trucking services all across Bangladesh.

 This is a category B project according to IFC’s Policy on Environmental and Social Sustainability because a limited number of specific E&S impacts may result which can be avoided or mitigated by adhering to generally recognized performance standards and guidelines.

Key E&S risks and issues associated with this project are relevant to the management of the fleet of registered trucks and the truck owners and drivers engaged in the underlying transportation and logistics business. Issues are therefore mainly related to oversight of compliance with applicable labor laws and Performance Standard 2 provisions by the company, its contractors and the truck owners and their drivers; safe driving and transport emergencies, all of which can be readily managed through development and effective implementation of appropriate environmental, health and safety, and human resource policies and procedures.
