Under Armour is a leading global designer and seller of branded footwear, apparel, equipment and accessories. The company was started in 1996, went public on the NASDAQ and in December 2008 transferred to New York Stock Exchange (“NYSE”). Institutional investors constitute the majority shareholders.

The proposed project (‘the Project”) within the GTSF facility is expected to be US$5 million for the supply of apparel from Under Armour’s suppliers.

GTSF-approved countries, including Honduras, El Salvador, Jordan and other emerging market countries.

  This is a Category B project according to IFC's Policy on Environmental and Social Sustainability because a limited number of specific environmental and social impacts may result that can be avoided or mitigated by adhering to generally recognized performance standards, guidelines or design criteria.

The E&S impacts that are expected to occur among UA's suppliers are those related primarily to shoe and apparel manufacturing. The most significant of these impacts are related to labor practices, including child labor, forced labor, occupational health and safety, wages, overtime, grievance mechanism, and overall safe and fair employment conditions; life and fire safety protection (including emergency response); emissions to air and water, hazardous materials management and use of energy and water. In addition, for the shoe manufacturing sector, management of supply chain issues on sourcing of materials such as rubber and leather are of relevance.
