This is category B project according to IFC’s Policy on Environmental and Social Sustainability because the project will result in limited potential adverse E&S risks and/or impacts that are few in number, generally site-specific, largely reversible and readily addressed thorough mitigation measures. The proposed LPG storage and handling facility will be built inside the existing terminal which is operational for the past 20 years. Around 1000 meters of the new pipeline and two pumping stations will be constructed inside the terminal, while the rest of the pipeline (about 6000 m) will pass through the PQA industry zone. The pipeline and the pumping stations will be constructed by an EPC contractor (GASCO, https://gascoengineering.com.pk/) hired jointly by EVTL and EPCL. According to the agreement among parties, the responsibility of the EVTL will end at the fence of its terminal whereas EPCL will be responsible for both construction and operation of the rest of the underground EDC pipeline.

Based on the review of available information, key EHS risks and impacts include the following: ; contractor management during the construction phase of the new underground pipeline and the installation of the new LPG bullets ; ensuring that the company continues to maintain good occupational, health and safety, operational safety, fire prevention and emergency response management; the labor and working conditions of the permanent and contracted employees; resource efficiency measures in compliance with local laws and regulations and the objectives of the Performance Standards.
