The Concessionaire is VINCI Airports Serbia (the “Concessionaire”), a subsidiary of VINCI Airports SAS. VINCI Airports SAS, headquartered in Rueil-Malmaison, France, is one of the largest global airport operators managing 44 airports in France, Portugal and 9 other countries.

 The proposed investment is a category B project according to IFC’s Policy on Environmental and Social Sustainability, i.e. business activities related to existing, operational assets with potential limited adverse environmental or social risks and/or impacts that are few in number, generally site-specific, largely reversible, and can be minimized, avoided or mitigated by adhering to generally recognized performance standards, guidelines, or design criteria. Key environmental and social issues associated with this project include: acquisition of land targeted for airport expansion with no physical displacement currently anticipated; coordination with the Serbian authorities and other relevant stakeholders, including air traffic control and airlines, on mitigation of airport noise impacts; life and fire safety; historical pollution; fuel/hazardous materials storage and handling. It is expected that once the project is fully operational it will contribute to overall environmental, safety and social conditions through introduction of modern, low environmental impact facilities, with attendant improved management and operational procedures.
