The Project Sponsor is Genomma, a public company listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange. The main shareholder of Genomma is Mr. Rodrigo Alonso Herrera (29 percent), founder of the Company. The remaining shareholding is owned by international and local institution investors and individuals, none of them own more than 10 percent.

The total Project Cost is estimated at approximately US$232 million equivalent.  The proposed IFC investment is a US$50 million equivalent corporate A Loan for IFC’s own account to finance the construction of Genomma’s first manufacturing facility in the state of Mexico, debt refinancing, and other capital expenditures.   IFC is in early discussions with the Company regarding a potential mobilization.

The manufacturing to be supported through the Project will be located in San Cayetano de Morelos, Toluca, State of Mexico.

This is a category B project according to IFC's Policy on Environmental and Social Sustainability because a limited number of specific environmental and social (E&S) impacts may result that can be avoided or mitigated by adhering to generally recognized performance standards and guidelines.  

Key E&S risks and issues associated with this project include assessment of the project's E&S impacts, Genomma's E&S management system; provision of safe and healthy working conditions for its employees and contractors; water and energy consumption; management of hazardous materials and wastes, liquid effluents from equipment cleaning processes and air emissions from boilers; managing the security forces; road safety provisions for transportation of workers; and co-packers' compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP) and Genomma's code of conduct.
