Main Shareholders are members of the Vashisht family (Neha Vashisht, Niti Vashisht, Ashu Vashisht and Naresh Vashisht). 

Cibrafertil is in a period of operational growth after acquiring Agro Industrial São Luiz´s (fertilizer division) that tripled its capacity in the past year.  The majority of its capital expenditures are dedicated to acquiring new fertilizer blending units to gain scale in strategic regions, upgrading existing facilities to increase the output and working capital.

Project Costs for 2017 - 2019 (“Project Cost”) is estimated at US$80.0 million (BRL253.4 million) comprised as follows: (i) upgrading the existing SSP manufacturing facility at Camaçari (US$3.4 million), Bahia; (ii) upgrading other existing blending facilities in Bahia, Goiás, Paranaguá, São Francisco do Sul, and Mato Grosso (US$25.0 million); and (iii) acquiring new blending assets  (US$37.9 million), (iv) working capital (US$13.7 million), together the “Project”. 

The investments defined in the Project will be financed through an IFC Loan of up to US$40 million, local bank loans and internal cash generation. 

The Company’s headquarter is in Salvador (Bahia) and it has a manufacturing plant of Single Superphosphate (SSP) with 270,000 ton/year production capacity in Camaçari (Bahia).  Cibrafértil has also fertilizer blending and distribution centers in Candeias and Luiz Eduardo Magalhães, located in Bahia State, São Francisco do Sul, located in Santa Catarina State, Paranaguá located in Parana State, Sorriso, located in Mato Grosso State and Cristalina, located in Goiás State. 

This is a category B project according to IFC’s Policy on Environmental and Social Sustainability, because the Environmental, Social and Health & Safety (ESHS) impacts related to the investment are limited, site specific, covers a footprint of existing brownfield assets, and the associated environmental and social (E&S) impacts can be managed through the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures. IFC’s review did not identify any significant adverse impacts or high-risk exposures.

 Key issues associated with this project include: adequate development and implementation of a comprehensive ESHS management system; including the necessary policies and procedures applicable for current operations as well as for future developments and acquisitions; HR management including that of contractors and supply chain; implementation of occupational health and safety (OHS) measures; adequate management of air pollution, hazardous materials, hazardous wastes and  wastewater; impacts on health, safety and security of the nearby communities and ongoing stakeholder engagement.
