The Project sponsor and main shareholder is IFHA-II, a US$149.5 million fund, which was established as a cooperative organized under the laws of the Netherlands. 

The total Project cost is expected to be approximately US$107 million, to be financed with equity of US$95 million (89%) and equity of US$12 million (11%). The proposed IFC investment is common equity of US$22 million and an A Loan of up to US$5 million. 

In addition, IFC will also be mobilizing approximately US$38 million of equity and US$7 million in debt.

The Project’s key acquisition targets are domiciled in East and Southern Africa. 

 The key environmental, social, health and safety issues associated with this project include; adequacy of the environmental and social assessment and management systems; construction related environmental, health and safety impacts; labor relations – human resources policies, procedures and practices; workers health, safety and hygiene – including training, disinfection, sterilization, emergency preparedness and response programs; pollution prevention in terms of waste and effluent treatment and disposal; hazardous materials management; implementation of good hospital management practices; energy conservation and efficiency; and community health, safety and security. The potential adverse impacts arising from these E&S risks are limited, site specific and can be avoided or mitigated by adhering to generally recognized performance standards, guidelines and design criteria. Therefore, this is a Category B project according to IFC’s Policy on Environmental and Social Sustainability.
