Project Description

IFC is looking to invest $10 million in NewGlobe Schools, Inc. (NGS) which owns Bridge International Academies  (“Bridge” or the “Company”) . Bridge is Africa’s largest chain of low-cost schools currently operating 211 schools serving 57,000 students in Kenya. The Company aims to provide quality education to children from families earning less the $2 per person per day. The investment will be used to increase the number of schools in Kenya and expand to 3 new countries.

Update: IFC has exited its investment in NewGlobe Schools, Inc. (the parent company of Bridge International Academies), effective March 3, 2022.  Over the period of IFC’s investment, the company scaled up significantly and currently reaches approximately 750,000 students through primarily its technology licensing contracts with government partnership schools, supporting innovation in the primary education sector. With IFC’s assistance, Bridge has made significant improvements in environmental, social, and governance management.
