Project Description

Imperial Logistics Limited (“Imperial” or “the company” or “the Group”) (https://www.imperiallogistics.com/) is an industry leader globally, with a focus on key industries such as healthcare, consumer, automotive, chemicals and industrial manufacturing. Imperial is a provider of healthcare and consumer goods related market access and logistics solutions across Africa and logistics solutions across Europe. The company is headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa and wholly owned by DP World since 14 March 2022.

 

The proposed investment is an up to US$100 million unsecured, senior loan (“A” loan) to Imperial Capital Limited (“DTMC”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Imperial Logistics Limited (“Imperial” or the “Company” or the “Group”), an African focused provider of integrated market access and logistics solutions. The financing package will be used for general corporate and working capital purposes of the Group, growth capital expenditure and acquisitions across the Imperial Group (the Project).                                                  

Overview of IFC's Scope of Review

IFC’s environmental and social (E&S) review of the project was conducted virtually on the 2 November 2021 and included; (i) an in person site visit to the Imperial facility in Nairobi, Kenya on 3 November 2021 and to the Imperial Health Sciences facility in Centurion, South Africa on 5 November 2021; (ii) discussions with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Executive and managers and safety, health and environment (SHE) managers; (iii) interview with the human resources (HR) manager for the group; and (iv) a review of the group’s ESG related policies and procedures including: HR management procedures, employee handbook, training records, environmental monitoring reports, emergency response plans, and COVID-19 related management response plan.
