Project Description

APM (The “Company”) is an integrated provider of real estate warehousing/storage founded by two Cameroonian entrepreneurs in 2004. It offers rental and logistical services to different customers. APM owns and operates a wide range of equipment (loaders, trailers, forklifts, trucks) which are used to handle cargo on port side and also owns warehousing real estate to be rented to third parties and transports merchandise to and from clients in the hinterland. APM provides end-to-end supply chain services to over 200 local and international customers over a wide array of sector (Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), retail, manufacturing, agriculture) out of Kribi and Douala ports.

 

APM operates 4 warehousing sites in Douala, all within the domain of the Port Authority of Douala:

  • N’dokochi with a capacity of 9,200 m2,
  • Yara with a capacity of 2,040m2,
  • Essengue with a capacity of 40,000 m2 and
  • the administrative building with a capacity of 8,000 m2.

Also, in Kribi, APM has a 500 m2 villa used as an office and one hectare leased by the Port Authority in Kribi for wood stockage. The Port Authority of Kribi has given a land of five hectares to APM to relocate their activities.

   

The proposed investment is an IFC A Loan of up to EUR10 m to APM to support the expansion of its real estate storage and warehousing rental facilities in Douala and Kribi Ports (“the Project), which involves the:

(a) construction of shops, warehouses and a supermarket in N’dokochi site.

(b) construction of three new warehouses of 2500 m2 each and an administrative building in Essengue.

(c) construction of facilities dedicated to woods operations and dedicated rental storage facilities for logs in Kribi on the new site.

 

Overview of IFC's Scope of Review

IFC’s review of this proposed investment consisted of appraising environmental, health and safety (EHS) and social related information submitted by APM including the: human resources (HR) policies, environmental and social (E&S) policies, documentations, E&S training records, etc ….

The appraisal included discussions with APM’s senior management including the chief executive officer (CEO), the HR director, the quality health security environment (QHSE) manager, the operation director (OD), the directorial manager of the Port Authority of Kribi and site visits to Douala and Kribi in March 2022.
