Project Description

  Time Technoplast Ltd is an India-based multinational company, (“TTL” or the “company” – https://www.timetechnoplast.com/ ), offering a range of technology based various polymer products.

 

The company currently has 23 operating units in India in around 13 locations in India, in addition to facilities in 10 overseas locations (such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Sharjah-UAE, Bahrain, Egypt & Saudi Arabia) and other Joint ventures (JVs) and subsidiaries. TTL is a publicly listed company which manufactures (i) industrial packaging products such as: drums, containers, jerry cans, conipack pails; (ii) infrastructure products such as:  high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes, double wall corrugated (DWC) pipes; (iii) technical and lifestyle products:  mats, fuel tanks, rain flaps, disposal bins etc.; and (iv) value-added products such as intermediate bulk containers (IBC), Composite Cylinder  & multi-layer multi axis Oriented cross laminated Film (MOX) film. The company is currently planning to expand capacity to capture growth for industrial packaging products, DWC and HDPE pipes, composite cylinders, MOX films IBC and other related products.

 

IFC is considering a loan of up to INR 2,600 million (approximately 40 million equivalent) to support capacity augmentation and modernization of the existing facilities and develop new facilities for TTL operations in India (the “project”). The project does not involve NED Energy Limited, which is 94% subsidiary of TTL.                                                 

Overview of IFC's Scope of Review

 IFC’s review of this investment consisted of appraising technical, environmental, health and safety (EHS) and social related information submitted by the company including: Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety (EOHS) policy, EHS organization charts, Integrated Management System (IMS) related documentation and records, human resources (HR) policies and procedures, accident/incident records, environmental monitoring reports, emergency response plan and energy/water consumption details.

 

The appraisal included a site visit to TTL’s corporate office in Mumbai, existing facilities in Daman and Silvassa in April 2018. Discussions were held with the company’s CFO, and Director as well as with the technical, HR and EHS teams.
