Project Description

The project involves a potential equity investment of $60 million in IDS Medical Systems Group Limited (“IDS” or the “company”), a leading integrated medical distribution and solutions provider in Asia. IDS provides medical equipment, parts, consumables and services to numerous healthcare institutions including private and public hospitals, day surgery

centers, specialist and primary care clinics, laboratories and nursing homes. The company currently operates in various markets including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam and the Philippines.   IDS is majority owned by the Fung group of companies, who have holdings in trading, logistics, distribution and retailing; individual shareholders own the remaining shares of the company.

The company does not manufacture any equipment, parts or consumables itself, rather it has long standing relationships with major manufacturers of medical equipment and suppliers such as Philips, General Electric, Smiths Medical and Hamilton Medical.  Along with the supply of products the company also provides full service solutions to customers whereby they install equipment, undertake training of customer personnel on the use of equipment, provide warranty services on behalf of suppliers, and ongoing maintenance support.  Logistics i.e., transport of supplies to customers, is outsourced to contractors including another company owned by the Fung Group.

All company facilities are rented and typically include office space inclusive of a small stock room for medical consumables.

IDS growth occurs via expansion of its existing operations and acquisitions.
