Project Description

Kenya Airways Ltd. (“Kenya Airways”, “KQ” or “the Company”), an IFC client and a leading African airline, is seeking financing from IFC to support the implementation of a five year expansion plan for national, regional and transcontinental passenger and cargo services. The Company was founded in 1977, and was wholly owned by the Government of Kenya until 1996 when it was privatized through a public private partnership arrangement. KQ’s head office is located in Embakasi, Nairobi, with its hub at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International (JKIA). The Company currently operates 33 aircraft servicing 55 domestic, regional and transcontinental destinations. Kenya Airways is now in the midst of implementing a comprehensive network and fleet expansion plan focused on growing its passenger network and diversifying its fleet to match the network needs as well as launching a dedicated freighter division.
