Project Description

Alliar is a health imaging diagnostic company and a result of the merge of four companies in January 2011. After the initial merger, Alliar acquired other brands, and today sums ten different brands: Axial, Di imagem, Uni imagem, CSD, Plani, Cedimagem, Sonimed, Unic Ideal and Sabedotti. Altogether, the Company has 29 outpatient service centers across 14 cities throughout 5 States in Brazil, mainly focused on MRI and CT, serving a population of approximately 7 million people. IFC is providing adequate long-term financing in support of the Company''s expansion plan, allowing sustainable growth.

Overview of IFC's Scope of Review

IFC’s review of the Alliar project consisted of a five-day appraisal visit conducted in March 2012 to assess the Company’s operations, review environmental, health, safety, and social information submitted by the Company and understand their plans and commitments for the future development of the prospect.

Five facilities of Alliar’s subsidiary (Axial) in Belo Horizonte MG, were visited as well as two facilities (Campo) in Belém, PA. In Belo Horizonte, Axial has two facilities integrated to existing hospitals as well as standalone Imaging Diagnostic Centers. Both types of facilities offer Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI), Tomography, X ray and Mammography diagnostic services. In addition to that, Campo also offers clinical laboratory diagnostic and nuclear medicine with active contrast diagnostic.

Meetings were held with local managers and operational directors. This provided a good view of the current stage of development of the project, existing E&S practices and their strategies to conduct environmental and social management programs.
