Overview of IFC's Scope of Review

IFC conducted a field appraisal of the proposed greenfield hospital Centro Hospitalario Serena del Mar in Cartagena, Colombia. The appraisal included a site visit to the proposed site in Cartagena; documentation review, including initial construction designs; and interviews with project developers, management team and local stakeholders. The team participated in a visit to the Fundación Carlos y Sonia Haime in Manzanillo del Mar, Bolivar. In addition, the existing Hospital Universitario Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá in Bogotá, Colombia was visited to understand the capacity and experience of the operating company to implement environmental and social management systems to address risks and impacts associated with a new hospital development of this type.
