Project Description

IFC plans to provide up to US$30 million financing package, including an equity investment of up to US$15 million, to MNT Sağlık Hizmetleri ve Ticaret A.S. (MNT). MNT is a leading molecular imaging and oncology services provider in Turkey, specialized in diagnosis and oncology treatment services within public and private hospitals. MNT also owns a proprietary oncology clinic in Istanbul, Neolife, which provides outpatient diagnosis and treatment services both to private patients and those covered under the country’s Social Security Institution insurance. The proposed financing will support MNT in the continued expansion of its services in Turkey, and in the region, mainly in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

Overview of IFC's Scope of Review

IFC’s review of this project consisted of following site visits:
the nuclear medicine and radiotherapy departments operated by MNT at six selected public and private hospitals located in Istanbul, Kahramanmaras and Sanliurfa cities in Turkey;
the nuclear medicine and radiotherapy clinic Neolife which is owned and operated by MNT in Istanbul;
the manufacturing facility of Eczacibasi-Monrol which is the sister company under Bozlu Group and supplier of radiopharmaceutical products for nuclear medicine to MNT, located in Kocaeli, Turkey.

Documentation provided by MNT about regulatory permits and licenses, inspections by the authorities; quality management documentation and certifications; building design and construction; contractor and supplier control programs; equipment and area verification and maintenance programs; transportation and handling of hazardous chemicals and wastes; emergency management schemes, occupational health and safety risk assessments; radiation safety; exposure monitoring records for the employees; training materials and records, as well as other information on human resources policy and practices; community engagement activities.

Interviews were held with the corporate management team including Vice President, General Manager, Business Development Manager, Nuclear Therapy Group Medical Manager, Radiotherapy Group Medical Physics Manager, Corporate Quality Coordinator, Corporate Supply Chain Manager, Corporate Human Resources Manager, team members from Engineering and Information Technologies departments, medical staff and technicians in the operational centers, officials from Eczacibasi-Monrol and GLOBUS, the sister company under Bozlu Group undertaking construction of MNT services.
