Project Description

Founded in November 1981, RKFL manufactures forged and machined transmission and axle components for medium and heavy commercial vehicles, and is currently one of the market leaders in this space in India. RKFL is headquartered in Kolkata, India, and has its three operational manufacturing plants at two sites in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India and one unit at Liluah, Howrah.

In order to increase its market share in a growing domestic market, and improve its operating efficiency, RKFL has undertaken an expansion program in Jamshedpur requiring a capital expenditure of approximately US$97 million. The expansion program will include brownfield expansion and technology upgrades in its existing facilities (such as replacement of oil fired furnaces with induction furnaces) and construction of a greenfield facility in Jamshedpur to manufacture front axle beams for commercial vehicles, with machinery imported from Germany (“the Project”).
