Project Description

Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI, S.A. (Aerodom or the company) comprises of six airports in the Dominican Republic under a 30-year build-operate-transfer concession agreement. Four airports are currently operating and include:

- Las Americas in the City of Santo Domingo (AILA);
- Gregorio Luperon in the City of Puerto Plata (AIGL);
- Maria Montez in the City of Barahona (AIMM); and
- Arroyo Barril in the region of Samana (AIAB).

The agreement also calls for Aerodom to construct and operate a new, greenfield airport in Samana at Catey (AISA), as well as assume operational responsibility for the recently constructed La Isabela airport in El Higuero (AILI), to the northwest of Santo Domingo. Aerodom’s operating airports served over 3.8 million passengers in 2003 and accounted for an estimated 51% of all passenger traffic in the Dominican Republic. The project is to help Aerodom complete infrastructure investments and new construction required under its concession agreement. These infrastructure investments include the renovation and expansion of existing terminal buildings, runways, and aircraft parking areas; the construction of new terminals; the installation of new security, baggage handling and other equipment; and completion of the construction of the new airport in Samaná.
