Project Description
The project consists of rehabilitation and expansion of Fushe Kruje Cement Factory sh.p.k (FKCF or the company), an existing Albanian cement producer, through the installation of a new dry kiln line with total combined annual capacity of 1.3 million tones, which would replace imported clinker and cement. The project is promoted by Seament Holding SAL, Lebanon, which in 2000, in partnership with RMC Group plc (the British Readymix company), acquired FKCF in a public privatization process.
The clinker milling and cement bagging plant will be upgraded first and will operate on imported clinker, while the dry kiln is being completed. When the project is completed the existing plant at FKCF will be dismantled.
The project is located near the small town of Fushe Kruje, about 35 kilometers (Km) north of Tirana. The land to be occupied by the new facilities is being prepared by the demolishing of the former wet kiln and conversion of a smaller piece of greenfield land for installation of a storage silo for the clay/limestone mix.
