Project Description

Detroit Belarus Brewing Company (DBBC) proposes to privatize a Soviet era production facility including malting, brewing, and bottled mineral water production. The original operation was built in the mid 1970s and is situated in the town of Bobriusk some 150 Km southeast of Minsk. The operation is currently bottling carbonated mineral water but the last brewing run occurred in October 2002. The company is currently selling the remaining product from its last production run. The operation is dilapidated. The project consists of refurbishing the facility to consistently brew and bottle high quality beer that competes well in the local market. Bottling of mineral water will continue as before using PET (1.5 l) and glass (0.5 l) containers. Considerable refurbishing work must be carried out to achieve the beer production goals. Water, wastewater and solid waste issues that were unsolved in the Soviet era and the post Soviet decade will be rectified as part of the privatization program.
